HOW THEY GENERATED THE DATA: Ad Age’s survey is complied using data from as many as seven media-buying agencies. Prices should be taken as directional indicators, not the actual numbers advertisers pay for a spot, as estimates can vary depending on the amount of inventory purchased from a network and the relationship an advertiser has with a network. Ad Age’s survey is based on what advertisers paid during upfronts and prices may have changed for those purchasing closer to air date in the “scatter” market.
